Over the weekend my husband and I took his 82-year-old mother to see Tony Bennett in concert. She has a great story of sharing a taxi with him in the 1950s when she was a nun. During that single cab ride he agreed to perform for the residents at the nursing home where she was stationed. Unaware of his popularity, she asked him, "Are you any good?"
At 87, he is still VERY good and is such an inspiration. You could tell when he was up on that stage that he was doing something that he still enjoys after all these years. He had a sparkle in his eye and even broke into a few dance moves and spins! Mr. Bennett truly loves what he does and it shows, bringing the crowd to their feet more than once.
Proof positive that if you love what you do (and you're any good at it), you will endure. -DM
